Frequently Asked Questions
-
SourceKill™ is typically implemented to treat between 10% and 20% of the available pore space. Variables such as site geology and contaminant levels also are taken into consideration during the design process.
-
SourceKill™ is packaged in 275 gallon IBC totes and shipped in box trailers or tanker trucks for large volume orders (10,000 gallons plus).
-
The SourceKill™ emulsion is shipped ready for injection; there is no need for dilution.
-
Due to the viscosity of the emulsion, we do not recommend injecting through monitoring wells. Typically SourceKill™ is injected through temporary injection points.
-
Typical source area reductions up to 90% in the first 3 months post injection have been observed.
-
SourceKill™ can and has been emplaced into a wide range of subsurface conditions ranging from sands to tight clays.
-
SourceKill™ has been shown to be reactive for up to 48 months or longer at recent implementations
-
SourceKill™ is a proven cost-competitive solution to DNAPL source area reduction projects. When time is a driver to destroy DNAPL, SourceKill™ will be your most cost-competitive solution.
-
SourceKill™ is a hydrophobic emulsion that includes micelles that physically house the zero-valent iron, instead of a hydrophilic or in some cases a hydrophobic mixture in which the iron particles exist in the mixture primarily as free iron. SourceKill™ functions as a DNAPL itself due to its physical structure which is designed to treat and be miscible with DNAPL source areas, enabling better contact and leading to full abiotic and biotic destruction of chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Yes, we have been involved with quite a few SourceKill™ implementations over the years in a variety of soil types. We work with our clients to help select an appropriate implementation contractor based on site conditions and work closely with that injector to ensure that product subsurface distribution requirements can be met to achieve optimal results. We recently entered into an agreement with Cascade Environmental for both product sales and marketing and injection/delivery of remediation products. To see more click here: “News”.
